OMO Provincial Information
Ontario Mathematics Olympics Information
OMO is a fun, challenging mathematics competition for teams of students in Grades 7 and 8. It is usually held around the first week of June. The students are required to solve problems based on the Ontario mathematics curriculum. Each of the four events is designed to be completed as a team, in pairs, or individually. Collaboration, rather than individual performance, is the focus of the Olympics. Students must demonstrate their understanding of the mathematical concepts and their ability to solve problems and to communicate their knowledge in various situations. Each year, the event is hosted by a chapter of OAME. The host community arranges various social activities, which give the students a taste of the local culture and traditions. It is an educational experience that students remember for many years.
